Students begin their AI journey by understanding fundamental concepts and creating their first AI-generated images.

  • What is artificial intelligence and how does it work?
  • Exploring different types of AI systems
  • Understanding how AI is used in everyday applications
  • Introduction to ethical considerations in AI

Project: AI Art Generator

Students will create custom artwork using DALL-E and other image generation tools, learning how to craft effective prompts that produce desired results.

Week 2: Assemble Your Team & Research Your Pitch

Students explore how AI can understand and generate human language, and build their own specialized chatbot.

  • How language models work and their capabilities
  • Techniques for effective prompt engineering
  • Understanding context and conversation flow
  • Exploring biases in language models

Project: Custom Knowledge Chatbot

Students will create a specialized chatbot trained on topics of their choice that can answer questions and provide information in a specific domain.

Week 3: Pitch-a-Palooza! & Collect Your Data

Students learn how AI can process and generate speech, and build a voice assistant application.

  • Speech recognition and text-to-speech technologies
  • Understanding voice interfaces and user experience
  • Audio analysis and processing techniques
  • Building conversational interfaces

Project: Homework Helper Voice Assistant

Students will develop a voice assistant that can answer questions, provide explanations, and help with homework tasks through natural conversation.

Week 4: Train Your Model

Students explore how AI can make personalized recommendations based on preferences and patterns.

  • How recommendation algorithms work
  • Content-based vs. collaborative filtering
  • Pattern recognition in user behavior
  • Evaluating recommendation quality

Project: Personal Recommendation Engine

Students will build a system that recommends movies, music, books, or other content based on user preferences and behavior patterns.

Week 5: Kickoff! & Explore Your Future

Students complete a capstone project while exploring the ethical implications of AI technology.

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about our AI course.

Does my child need coding experience?

Not at all! Our course is specifically designed for students with no prior coding experience. We use intuitive tools and platforms that allow students to focus on learning AI concepts without getting caught up in complex programming. The curriculum emphasizes understanding how AI works and applying it to solve problems, rather than coding from scratch.

What are the technical requirements?

Students will need a computer (Windows, Mac, or Chromebook) with a reliable internet connection and a modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge). A webcam and microphone are required for the interactive Zoom sessions. All software and tools used in the course are web-based, so no special software installation is needed. A tablet or smartphone is not sufficient for the course activities.

How will this help with college applications?

Colleges increasingly value students who demonstrate initiative in emerging technology fields. This course provides several benefits for applications: (1) Students develop a portfolio of AI projects they can showcase, (2) They gain knowledge in a cutting-edge field that sets them apart, (3) The course demonstrates self-directed learning and technological aptitude, and (4) Students can reference specific skills acquired in personal statements or interviews. Additionally, the projects created can form the foundation for more advanced work that could be developed into competition entries or research projects.

What makes this different from other coding classes?

Unlike traditional coding classes that focus on programming languages and syntax, our AI course emphasizes understanding and applying artificial intelligence concepts. Students learn to work with existing AI tools and models rather than building them from scratch. The curriculum focuses on creative problem-solving using AI, ethical considerations, and real-world applications. This approach makes advanced technology accessible to beginners while still providing meaningful learning experiences that translate to valuable skills.

How interactive are the classes?

Our classes are highly interactive! With a maximum of 15 students per cohort, every student receives personalized attention. Each session includes group discussions, hands-on activities, live demonstrations, and collaborative problem-solving. Students actively participate by sharing their screens, asking questions, and getting real-time feedback on their projects. The instructor uses interactive teaching tools, polls, and breakout rooms for smaller group activities. This engagement-focused approach ensures students remain motivated and fully involved in the learning process.

What if my child misses a class?

We understand that scheduling conflicts may arise. All sessions are recorded and made available to enrolled students within 24 hours after each class. Students who miss a session can watch the recording and complete the associated activities. The instructor also offers a brief 15-minute catch-up session before or after the next class for students who missed the previous one. Additionally, course materials and instructions are provided through a student portal that can be accessed anytime. We recommend attending live whenever possible for the best interactive experience.
